Work Permit – Intra-company Transfer (“ICT”)

What is ICT?
  • For overseas company to transfer their personnel to Canada to work at its related-company (Managerial or Special Knowledge position).
Highlights:
  • No mandatory language or educational requirement for Applicants
  • LMIA-exempted, i.e. no recruitment effort for local Canadian
  • Short Processing Time – 1-2 month is possible
  • Help to achieve Permanent Residence (PR) goal
Requirements:
  • Overseas company & Canadian company MUST be related (e.g. parent, branch, subsidiary, affiliate)
  • Overseas Company is a Multinational Corporation (“MNC”), i.e. with established business operating and generating revenue in additional to home country
    • Example 1: Established company has active business operations in China & in Canada (may request initial work permit of 3 years)
    • Example 2: A company has active business operations in China plus in another country that’s not in Canada [For this scenario, the Canada company can be a new company (“Start-up”)] (initial work permit is only for 1 year)
  • Demonstrate sufficient funding
  • Applicant is currently working for the overseas company (at least 1-year continuous full-time)
  • Position in overseas company: Managerial or Special Knowledge
